basket sponge
with yellow snappers

Basket sponges (Euplectella sp.) can reach the size of a bathtub. This fore-reef slope (one of the reef eco zones) also teems with Blue and Gold snappers, (Lutjanus viridis). Most snappers are carnivorous and live around reefs and on the continental slope.
